The base is edging back upwards brushing against the four meter mark up top once again. Its the winter that keeps on giving with 20cm recorded since last lifts yesterday, 10cm down in the village. The temperatures are pretty cold too, a brisk morning on the Nozawa streets and -7c at the top. There will be plenty of powder pockets today and it shows that the mountain will be fairly competitive with numerous boards and skis in line at 7am. This is a great overnight snowfall for March and I expect excellent conditions across the mountain.
Yesterday continued on the trend of excellent skiing this March. We were suprised that even though there was only 5cm or so recorded, it felt much deeper than this. Perhaps the slopes were filled in by the wind? It snowed lightly during the morning before the clouds parted at around 11am. We were left with great powder snow all day as the sun shone down on the mountain. Later in the afternoon more clouds rolled over bringing the snowfalls we are impacted by today.
Tomorrow it’ll be mostly sunny with light winds and fairly warm temperatures. A spring day of skiing. On Monday, cloudy slightly warmer temps still with snowfalls starting from later afternoon. Wednesday next week is looking to be pretty impressive with NW winds and heavy snowfalls for a 24 hour period. Its possible we may see some impressive totals around this date.
