Although we haven’t been getting as much snow as we would like, the on piste conditions at Nozawa Onsen have been fairly good recently, and on a day like today, there’s no reason not to get out there. The day will start off with blue skies in every direction before some light cloud rolls in later in the day. We should be receiving a bit of snow overnight and then some more tomorrow to give the slopes a nice top up.
The forecast for the coming week is looking great. After what should be a sunny weekend, we might be getting heavy snow for a few days in a row from Monday onwards. The forecast is indication that a heavy storm should be moving in at some point on monday and start dropping snow across the whole of Nozawa Onsen.
With the Fire Festival coming in two days, preparations are well underway. You may have seen a few shrines built around town already. Check out the preparations of the main shrine today starting at 1pm at the base of Kandahar, near Hikage Gondola.
