Hard to come down after the awesome day we experienced in Nozawa yesterday. People were rolling down the mountain with grins from ear to ear and powder falling out of every pocket.
Today is a bit overcast and just 1cm of fresh overnight. Should still be great conditions out on the slopes with powder stashes if search a little. The cold temps will probably keep the groomers pretty fast.
More sun expected tomorrow and freezing level shooting up to 2000m above sea level. Then Sunday night temps are cascading down and it is forecast to snow for 5 days straight! Better clear the roof today…
The Craft Room on the slopes below the Nagasaka Gondola. Max and Dave happy to share thier love of beer with the apres ski crowd.

Going to keep it pretty brief today as have an important board meeting to get to! Conditions are perfect. Had another 30cm plus fall on us since about 3pm yesterday and it is a magical Bluebird day in Nozawa.
It snowed heavy all day and there was some great powder runs to be had yesterday but it was blizzard like conditions. The wind has dropped now and the skies are blue.
I may have said this before but it is the best day of the season so far! Guess it just keeps getting better. Get up there and enjoy it…

After last seasons epic snow falls we were half hoping we would not get just as much snow this year! Waking up this morning to blizzard like conditions and snow dumping hard from the heavens looks like the shovels will be working hard again this season.
After a beautiful Christmas day on the slopes yesterday the reality of winter is back today with heavy snow and cold temps. Should be some great powder again up for grabs with very few crowds around still.
The outlook is for a bit of sunshine over the next few days and then more snow hitting Sunday night. So awesome conditions up here at the moment, enjoy it before the New Years hoard arrive in a few days time.
Another Nozawa success story. Nick and Torie the first marriage proposal for 2012 Season. Congratulations guys and thanks fro coming

As a kid you often dream of Santa and snow covered trees and cute little houses. If you woke up in Nozawa this morning you would have been pretty happy!
With over 75cm of snow falling yesterday then clear skies this morning the scene is set for a perfect Christmas day.
Yesterday the snow was relentless just bucketing on us all day and there were many reports of waist deep powder runs on the mountain. It snowed right up until the close of lifts yesterday and with no crowds to compete with this morning should be more of the same but with better visibility!
The forecast is for a bit more snow tonight then a few sun filled days on the menu.
We would like to wish all our terrific guests and friends a very Merry Christmas from snowy Nozawa Onsen . Stay safe and all the best for the New Year.
Hope Santa brings some new powder boards for Christmas think we will need them in Nozawa
Base up top: 195 cm Temp Top; – 8 Degrees
Base at bottom; 85 cm
New Snow since close: 40 cm
Weather; Dumping Snow
As promised Nozawa is well and truly covered in snow for Christmas with a huge 40cm dump overnight and still going strong.
Walked home from the Onsen about 11pm last night and could still see the stars. But when we woke up this morning could feel the silence that only a good dump of snow can bring. Sure enough it was the first day of the season I really had to dig my way out the front door.
So lots of people clambering to get the powder boards strapped on and get up the hill this morning. Better go and take a closer look all in the name of research!
