Lots of families coming into Town to celebrate a White Christmas

New Snow since close: 20 cm

Weather; Sunny

It started to snow late last night just before going to bed but was a bit wet in town. Wiped about 10cm off the front of the truck this morning and the official report is 20cm up top!

Was a bit foggy early but that has blown off now to reveal a beautiful day on the slopes. We had the opening ceremony on yesterday and all the mascots and old ski styles were on display with a good turn out.

Looking like we are in for another good dump tonight and a bit of snow over the next few days then some sunshine later in the week. Should be a Merry Christmas in Nozawa!

Weather; Foggy

Bit of a buzz in town this weekend, the first that the whole resort is open. Still pretty quiet though and no lift lines to report!

Was raining a little bit in town early but should have been some light snow up top. Visibility is not the best but snow condition should still be great.

Yesterday was a great day on the slopes with fresh powder and the clouds lifted in the afternoon for an amazing scene.

We may get a bit of sunshine tomorrow then looking like some good falls ahead. Anyway top to bottom out there on almost all runs so enjoy and welcome to Nozawa.

Another foot of snow hits Nozawa unexpectedly

by Mark on December 21, 2012

Deep snow and a hot onsen what more could you ask for? Nozawa December 2012

Base up top: 160 cm        Temp Top;  – 3 Degrees

Base at bottom; 70 cm

New Snow since close: 35 cm

Weather; Cloudy

After the ‘magic foot’ two nights we got hit with a ‘phantom foot’ last night with Mother Nature depositing another 30cm of the white fluffy stuff on our doorstep.

It was a bit unexpected we went in for dinner and came out and the car was under 20cm of fresh snow. All this will make for another great day on the slopes today and also help big time with building that base.

So looking good for opening of the whole resort tomorrow morning Saturday. Yesterday was a terrific day with fresh tracks and sunshine on offer ands still no lift lines actually barley anyone on the slopes at all!

The good time look set to continue in Nozawa with another sneaky foot of snow expected on Sunday night.

It’s a beautiful day in Nozawa Onsen

Magic day in Nozawa view from Villa Nozawa looking over to Myoko Kogen and Togari Ski Resort. Never get sick of that view!

Base up top: 140 cm        Temp Top;  -11 Degrees

New Snow since close: 15 cm

Weather; Blue Bird

Beautiful start to the day here in Nozawa Onsen. It snowed for most of the day yesterday and eased into the night, and then we woke up to blue skies and fresh snow on the courses this morning.

Yesterday was an amazing day with the fresh foot of snow there was some great riding to be had on and off piste. There were some big powder stories around the fireplace last night.

Top to bottom on the Forest trail today and the resort plans to open everything from this weekend. After a bit of sunshine there is another rather large dump looming for Sunday night so prepare yourselves for a very White Christmas in Nozawa Onsen

Enjoying the early powder in Nozawa. Skyline still ungroomed yesterday

Change of scene in Nozawa today

by Mark on December 18, 2012

Big things expected for Nozawa Onsen

Base up top: 105 cm        Temp Top;  -4 Degrees

Base at bottom; 30 cm

New Snow since close: 0 cm

Weather; Light Snow

Bit of a climate change in Nozawa today, with cloud blanketing the mountains. It is doing it’s best to snow in the village with temps hovering just above 0 degrees.

On the cams it appears to be dropping flakes up top, which would expect with the 1000m vertical elevation difference from town.

Yesterday was pretty nice up top but a bit icy in places so the dusting today will be welcome and it should snow moderately all day.

Looking ahead we should be in for some serious snow from Sunday night so get out there and do your best snow dance..

A good starting point in Nozawa to get your snow dance on. The Stay Bar and Foot Bar Oyu Dori Nozawa open for business
