After some amazing deep winter conditions early on we have bounced back in to a warm spell the last few days in Nozawa.
Has meant some nice sunny fun days to enjoy and given everyone in town a bit of a chance to get more set up before the battle with the snow begins.
The resort shuttle bus started on the weekend and also can now ski top to bottom officially on the Forest trail giving a 12km run home.
With no serious fresh snow for a few days now the base has backed off and we are ready for a top up soon.
The forecast looks promising though with temps dropping right down, with freezing level hitting sea side and a good amount of snow on the cards over the next few days
Not the huge dump like we received a little while ago but consistent, with the decent base should be in for some fun conditions so come up to Nozawa and enjoy the almost private slopes…
All hands on deck in preperation for the next big dump in Nozawa
With the early snow and no crowds some of the staff are making the most of it. Dan from Stay Bar glad to be back in Nozawa..

Has been a pretty nice past few days here in Nozawa. No major dumps like the previous few days but some constant light falls topping things up and keeping it fresh. Some beautiful sun filtering thru at times too.
Still some good powder on offer with a little bit of searching. Still not many people here to compete with and lucky if you see anyone in the lift line!
Everyone in town is busy gearing up for the busy New Years and Christmas period which is now just around the corner.
Tomorrow is looking like a blue bird day on the cards and then a bit of warmer weather before temps drop again and some light snow forecast. A great time to be in the mountains..,
We have had some amazing days already in Nozawa and the season is just a week old
Nice to see the sun out and about early this morning after all that snow in Nozawa photo by Milly thanks
A little ray of sunshine in Nozawa

Base at bottom; 60 cm

What a day yesterday was like deep mid season with no one here. The powder hounds were well fed with waist deep powder blanketing most of the resort.
Still only the top of the resort open but with the amount of snow that has fallen over the last few days it is no problem going top to bottom but probably-y wont open for a while yet.
Picture perfect start to the day here with magnificent views. Clouds are starting to roll in now though and just starting to snow again! Nothing too crazy expected but a nice little top up and then some more sunshine ahead. Happy days in Nozawa Onsen..
Thanks for posting the photo Katzuyuki a nice welcome home for you!

Early December in Nozawa looking more like peak season. Cars are dissapearing rapidly…
The Game changer in Nozawa. Powder Season has arrived!
Base up top: 150 cm Temperature; -10 Degrees
Base at bottom; 55 cm
New Snow: 60 cm Weather; Dumping
Most years we have a system that rolls thru and changes the landscape pretty quickly. We get a lot of snow in a short period of time, which usually sets us up for the season and means the start of the powder season.
With a massive 60cm dump overnight and looks like 60cm more on the way this is our game changer for this season. Some seasons we are just opening around this time so knee to waist deep powder is pretty amazing in early December.
We cleared the steps 4 times yesterday and still woke up to 20cm on the doorstep! Anyway time to strap on the powder boards for a bit of R & D. Will keep you posted….
No one is immune to the battle with the snow in Nozawa Onsen. Our 80 Year old neighbour back with the shovel this season..

After some beautiful sunny days in Nozawa with clear skies and nice conditions on the slopes, Mother Nature has opened the heavens and the snow is falling pretty hard with a lot more to come.
Top lifts are all open and the resort is open down to Uenotaira with the long beginner run in action this weekend too
The forecast is showing snow for the next 4 days and over 1 meter of the white fluffy stuff on order!
After some fun filled early days in Nozawa Onsen we have been blessed with a major change and the snow is falling heavily from the skies
