Woke up to snow falling gracefully from the sky in Nozawa this morning.
They had expected it to come in last night but only started about 6am.
A few centimetres have already collected on the ground but not much has gathered as yet.
The outlook has improved though with consistent snow due all week before another sunny weekend.
Yesterday was an awesome day on the slopes with some fresh pockets of snow on offer up high.
Down low was a bit hard early. A few of the young guns were building a kicker on the top and enjoying the sunshine.
Anyway the winter vibe and good snow conditions are set to continue in Nozawa.

Another great day in Nozawa this morning with a thin layer of cloud but blue sky poking thru.
No new snow to report overnight but will still be nice conditions on the mountain.
May be a little icy early but sure to soften as the day goes.
Yesterday was another great day with good snow conditions up top, the last few days have been as good as any day of the season. Was getting a little warm down low with the sunshine.
Outlook is good with some light snow forecast for tonight and then heavy falls on Monday and Tuesday night followed by sunshine later in the week. Freezing level should stay relatively cold too.
Last night we had a Lantern Festival up on the Hikage slopes with drummers, fireworks and fondue. A good turn out and an awesome display.

We have a few terrific French Families that come and visit us every year always great to have them in house. Bring a nice vibe to the Lodge and we look forward to having them back.

Still snowing in Nozawa Onsen.
We have had close to 1 meter fall in the last 48 Hours and was still coming down heavy this morning.
The shovels are well and truly back in full swing. Will be another epic day on the Mountain today with about 40cm of fresh snow, cold temps and no crowds.
Amazing what a difference a few days can make with a very wintery feel returning.
Yesterday was nice up top and as good as some of the days we had in January with light bottomless powder on offer.
Down on the lower slopes was a bit heavy going but a magnificent day and looks like more of the same today.
The outlook is very promising indeed, after the sunshine of the weekend we have some heavy snow forecast for next week again. After a warmer February, March is looking like a good month to be in the mountains.

Winter is back with vengeance we had around a half meter of fresh snow falling overnight.
Just when we thought it was safe to hang up the shovels!
We have received more than the Magic foot and the base has smashed back thru the 300cm mark to a beautiful 330cm up top.
It was snowing all day both up top and below yesterday but only got cold enough to start settling in the Village from about 4pm. It quickly started to pile up though and within a few hours we had 20cm on the front door.
This morning we had to dig our way thru about 40cm to get out. Will be even more up top with the feeling of January conditions quickly returning.
Anyone heading off the beaten track should be careful today with all this fresh snow on a hard base there is a chance of slides in some areas.
The forecast is for snow to continue to fall until Saturday when we should get a clear weekend then back into consistent snow falling all week next week. So any one who has put their faith in the magic of March looks like they will be rewarded.

Winter seems to have returned to Nozawa this morning with snow falling nicely when we looked out the window. A very pretty sight indeed.
Official reports are showing 10cm has settled on the top and it is still falling at a decent rate as this is being written.
Temperatures dropped overnight and it started to snow in the village early this morning. We were all given an early wake up by the fire brigade trying to get people to help with a fire that had occurred down the valley in Iiyama.
Yesterday was low visibility but pretty nice snow up top falling thru most of the afternoon.
The outlook is for snow to continue until Saturday then sunny for the weekend and more snow early next week so happy days in Nozawa.
