Snow Snow Snow. Last night saw a heavy dumping of snow, there is a lot of shovelling of snow happening this morning with 65 cm,

Yesterday saw good conditions all over the mountain, with a lot of fresh powder up top. The sun did peak through the clouds in the middle of the day for a little bit until the snow returned.

Today should see another 30cm falling, with more falling in the next 2 days.

It is going to be all about that famous Japanese powder today so get up the mountain stay safe and enjoy.

by Mark on December 22, 2017

Base at top: 155 cm

Temp at Top: -5 Degrees

Base at Uenotara station: 140 cm

New snow since close: 0 cm

Weather: Sunny

Cool conditions start the day, but will warm up with sunshine forecast all day.

Yesterday started over cast but turn into a blue bird day by mid morning. The groomed runs will be the best bet until the next snow due in a couple of days.

Tomorrow looks like it will be similar to today with clear skies and good conditions and the are plenty of uncrowded runs out there.

Remember to get to the Mt Dock Gondola Cafe for its Opening Party tomorrow at 3pm.

Another bluebird day in paradise

Base at top: 155 cm

Temp at Top: -5 Degrees

Base at Uenotara station: 140 cm

New snow since close: 0 cm

Weather: Sunny

Chilly morning but a bright day ahead.

We have been lucky with all the beautiful days we have been receiving in Nozawa. It seems to either be dumping in snow or lovely clear skies! The last few days being the latter…

Had a great day on the slopes yesterday and it will be just as good today. The sun is shining but the temps are low so the snow is crisp and groomed perfectly for some fun on-piste speed runs.

Expecting another day of sunshine tomorrow before the awaited snow begins to return from the 24th and continue non stop for several days. We will be missing this sunshine…

Remember to swing by the Mt’ Dock Gondola Cafe tomorrow from 3-8pm for the opening party and the first night skiing of the season! Plenty of great apres drink deals to keep you warm and happy between laps on Nagasaka. See you then!

The morning sky is brewing

Base at top: 165 cm

Temp at Top: -5 Degrees

Base at Uenotara station: 150 cm

New snow since close: 2 cm

A morning dusting of snow before a day of sunshine.

Yesterday was an incredible day on the slopes. Bluebird skies and crisp groomers drew a crowd of happy skiers and snowboarders.

We are expecting a similar day with clear skies and great conditions. The groomers will be the go-to in the next few days as we await the next snowfall. There are still plenty of fun patches of untouched powder scattered within Jumping, Utopia and a few other more advanced courses, so get out there and make the most of it!

Just a reminder that we have the Gondola Cafe Opening Party 3pm – 8pm Saturday 23rd Dec 2017. Go to our facebook event for more information.

Snow Report 19 Dec 2017

Above the clouds…

Base at top: 175 cm
Temp at Top: -5 Degrees
Base at Uenotaira station: 160 cm
New snow since close: 0 cm
Weather: Cloudy, expecting some light snow in the afternoon

We have been having several “pinch me” moments lately in Nozawa Onsen. Yesterday was one of those moments with perfect conditions and beautiful weather.

All the sunshine and fresh snow created a vibrant mood on the mountain. The feeling of skiing with excellent conditions on the crisply groomed slopes or in the waist deep powder is addictive. Big smiles on everyones faces.

The town is currently in a cloud but above the slopes are in sunshine and looking amazing once again. Most of the mountain is now open including crowd favourites such as Skyline and Challenge. We are expecting a snowfall this afternoon and into the night before a few more sunny days on the agenda.

Thank you to @samgbson and @the_mantii for tagging us @nozawaonsenjapan in these photos on Instagram yesterday. They really capture the magic of the day. Please follow and tag us https://www.instagram.com/nozawaonsenjapan/ as we would love to see all your pics and flicks!

Take care on the streets in town today as they are quite icy in places.

Happy skiing!

Nozawa Onsen Snow Report 11 December 17

by Mark on December 11, 2017

Sunrise before the Snowfall in Nozawa Onsen, Japan.

Base at top: 70 cm
Temp at Top: 0 Degrees
Base at Uenotaira station: 50 cm
New snow since close: 0 cm
Weather: Clear start but clouds forming, expecting snow this evening.

Beautiful start to the day and now we are excitedly awaiting snowfall this evening in Nozawa Onsen.

We had a great day on the mountain yesterday with clear skies and fresh snow. It is still very quiet on the slopes, practically have them all to yourself, although we have more and more people beginning to arrive. Villa Nozawa opened up for the season yesterday with 20 guests arriving! Town is beginning to buzz. The mountain will be just as good today, although the snowfall which begins tonight and continues into the next two days will result in some new fresh pow to enjoy this week.

Continuous snow for the next three nights will make a good cover on the mountain so hopefully some more slopes will be opened shortly. All of Yamabiko, Uenotairia and the slopes to mid station are open and great at the moment.

We won’t be seeing clear skies for a while here in Nozawa Onsen! Can’t wait.
