Fun in the sun again today in Nozawa.
Still in the same pattern that has been dominating for the past few days with clear skies and warm temps during the day. Although we are ready for some fresh snow now everyone has been having a great time in the spring conditions.
Looking like we are in for a change from tonight with the winds changing to a westerly direction and temperatures dropping from later tonight some snow forecast too.
Then showing a snow then sun type rhythm kicking in again so lets hope it comes to fruition as there is a decent fall predicted for a bit further down the track.
In years gone by March has often been snowier than February so may be the case this season too. Time will tell.
Still cruising thru that same pattern of light winds and clear skies.
Temperatures have been cool overnight with the clear skies letting all the heat out but warming up pretty quickly.
Yesterday was hard and fast early on the groomers with some great screaming runs down the race course at Kandahar. The slopes softened up as the day got on and was a bit slushy on the south facing slopes.
The park was fun too and with lots of the young guns hitting the half pipe. They have been working hard this season to improve the snow park and it is a pretty neat set up now.
More sun ahead and some snow on the horizon but may be a little later now.
Carbon copy of yesterday here in Nozawa with a blue bird day.
Lots of sunshine and looking like a beautiful day on the slopes.
Will be very quiet too on the week days with the feeling you are the only one up there at times!
Still have a 300cm base so the runs are nice
So remember the sunscreen and enjoy.
Living it up in the Living room at Nozawa Cottage
This season we opened up Nozawa Cottage a unique self contained house right next to the slopes and just below Nagasaka Gondola.
It is a very interesting triangle shape so made for an amazing renovation. We are pretty proud with the results. Here are a few pictures.

Nothing but blue skies ahead in Nozawa today.
It was a pretty cold and blizzard like day and night yesterday but has all settled down now.
A bit of motion about town this morning but does not seem as busy as last weekend.
The outlook is for lots of sunshine and light winds for the week so should be some fun conditions ahead
Igloo Bar the place to escape the cold in Nozawa Onsen by Julie Jobson
Was a magic night last night huddling with the gang in the igloo at the Museum in town. Amazing how warm it can be in there in comparison to outside! The free soup and sake may have helped!
Can't see the forest for the Tree Uenotaira by Marc Higgins
New Snow; 10cm
Base at Top Yamabiko; 305cm
We did get some rain down at Village level last night, but good news is looks like it was snow up high with 10cm of fresh being reported this morning at Yamabiko
It has started to snow outside in the village this morning too from about 7 am and is getting a bit heavier as I type.
Temps are just above 0 degrees so hoping it will stay cold enough for the snow to continue.
Yesterday was almost like spring conditions, especially down the bottom with some sticky snow. Up high was still good though. But was a warm day with the South winds coming up bringing that Okinawa warm current.
Outlook is for lots of sunshine on the menu but temps and the freezing level remain quite low at least in the short term so should be some nice days for the weekend
For anyone in town tonight the Shinden area community are hosting an Igloo Festival at the Hanzan Bunko Museum which is the green church type looking building in the middle of the Village just up from Juodo Onsen. Starts at 7pm and will be free sake and nabe. Sure to be a great vibe so come on down.
