Pleasure and Pain in Nozawa Kandahar Race Course and Shovel Time combine
New Snow; 0cm
Base at top; 320cm
Shades of blue poking thru between the clouds in Nozawa this morning.
No new snow to report overnight but looking like we could be in for another serious dump over night up hight anyway. Down low is unfortunately looking like that four letter word we Rain may raise its ugly head.
Temperatures are not that warm as yet so wait and see.
Yesterday was a picture perfect day on the Mountain with lots of snow and sunshine.
Amazing views to the surrounding mountains and the snow was great. As expected parts were getting tracked out pretty early and with all the soft snow the moguls were appearing like pimples on the steeper slopes.
Kandahar was open too and was a great blast down the race track overlooking the village at Sunset
The outlook is for snow and sunshine off and on up top and possibly some rain down low.
So looks like some spring warmth is creeping in but should still be some great days ahead.
Very Blue Skies in Nozawa this morning and looks stunning with all the fresh snow.
There was still a bit of fresh that fell yesterday evening after the lifts closed so today is going to be pretty special up on the slopes. Snow quality and views will be as good as it gets.
Yesterday was a day for the powder hounds with the snow dumping all day it was quickly blanketing everything.
Some great runs were up for the taking in what was a pure powder feast.
Two very different days in Nozawa Onsen so depending on what you are after both are close to a skiers perfect day.
Oversnow Transport Nozawa Style
The outlook is for another decent dump starting Thursday night then plenty of sunshine.
It is going to be a beautiful day to be in the Mountains today so enjoy
Have had about 30cm of fresh snow overnight and the sun has just come out!
The weekend crowd is already starting to make their way home so anyone up there is going to blessed with perfect conditions.
Yesterday was a good day despite the crowds and a fun night in town.
Outlook is for another good dump tomorrow night then some more sunshine through the week.
Anyway enough said time to hit the slopes!
Sake Tasting night and Live Music at Villa Nozawa
Had a magic night at Villa Nozawa a few nights back with Mizuho Sake putting on a Sake Tasting night.
Tanakaya san from Mizuho gave us an in depth education on the finer points of the local delicacy. The water used to make Mizuho sake all comes from a spring on the top of Mt Kenashi the main peak in Nozawa Onsen Resort. All the rice used in the process is Harvested from the local area too and is some of the finest in Japan if not on the planet. So it all makes for some amazing quality Sake.
Some great live music was also supplied by the Davies Sisters singing some sweet harmonies. Thanks girls..
