After a pretty ordinary day yesterday today turned out to be pretty nice. Light snow fell across the resort most of the day, and then the sun burst out this afternoon.
The base is consolidating but still some nice conditions and looks like a lot of snow on the way! Freezing levels are set to drop below Zero and heavy snow expected tomorrow. So looking good for the first Saturday of the season.
The resort is also opening more runs with Uenotaira opening up which will be great for the beginners. The shuttle bus service looping the resort is also in full swing from tomorrow. Still not a lot of people about town so get up and enjoy the early season fun in Nozawa

After the events of the past few days you would be forgiven for thinking that is was mid season not early December.
Pretty special day up on the slopes yesterday with plenty of powder on offer as it kept snowing most of the day. People could not believe they lucked into so much snow at this time of year.
Still need to build the base underneath but up top you didn’t feel it. This big dump will give us a great foundation. Still only the top Yamabiko open but a few were skiing top to bottom yesterday.
Clear skies now but looking like lots of snow on the menu this week so we will clear the deck while we can and wait for the next fall in probably even from tonight.
Anyway a great start to the season and not many people about so if keen come on up and enjoy the great conditions.
Thanks Seiji for the amazing photo of Nozawa Village and Resort

The snow just keeps coming in Nozawa. It has been falling heavily for 2 days now and the whole village has been transformed into a Winter Wonderland!
We had 70 cm for two days in a row now and the base is now 135cm up top. With plenty of fresh everywhere it is going to be an awesome opening day today!
All of the top of the mountain the Yamabiko area is open and the Nagasaka Gondola, looks like the Uenotaira area is not yet open at this stage
The forecast is for the snow to ease today and then another big system from about Thursday on. Many in the village will be looking forward to a break in the snow to get ready for the season ahead!
Up for first of the first lifts! Nozawa Season under way with a bang!
Ready for some turns in Nozawa this season. Better wax up the planks as it on the way!
Boom and just like that Nozawa Onsen is under a Winter transformation.
Not a huge fall yesterday but enough to turn the whole top part of the mountain nice and white and for the groomers to get up and have a look.
Always a good sign! It was cold in town yesterday, we’re talking thermals, beanies and long onsen soaks cold!
Lovely day up top today and tempting to head up and try for the first turns of the season. Looks like a bit more expected tomorrow night too!
Not sure that this will be the one to kick of the ski season yet but it is definitely a nice step in the right direction. Hope everyone is getting excited and we look forward to welcoming you to Nozawa soon.
