Big Flake Friday in Nozawa

Base up top: 350 cm

Temp Top; -3 Degrees

Base at Uenotaira 290cm

Base at bottom; 175 cm

New Snow since close: 23 cm

Weather; Big flakes

After a warm spring day yesterday it is a very different landscape this morning. Saucer size flakes are floating from the sky and smiles are back on the faces of the powder hungry skiers!

Has been snowing heavy all morning and we have almost had a magic foot since the early hours.

A big change back to winter after a few sticky days on the snow, this was due the warmer days and some sand blowing across from the Gobi desert, a strange occurrence we sometimes get once a season.

Anyway this fresh should cover it all up and back to the winter glide. It looks like the snow is set in for the rest of the day before some sun tomorrow and a bit more snow come Sunday. I imagine there are only probably limited powder days left for the season so make the most of them.

More March Powder on the Way

by Mark on March 13, 2014

So where are you Lubo? "NOZAWA"

So where are you Lubo? “NOZAWA”

Base up top: 350 cm

Temp Top; 0 Degrees

Base at Uenotaira 280cm

Base at bottom; 170 cm

New Snow since close: 0 cm

Weather; Overcast – Good visibility

After some amazing March snow and sunshine, today looks to be a little less exciting but still heaps of fun!  It is overcast today but there is good visibility on a huge base so on piste will have plenty to offer.  The next front coming in may bring some rain to the village this arfternoon but that should turn to snow pretty quickly this evening.

Yesterday offered great March skiing with plenty of stashes off piste and an un-crowded mountain.

Although the forecast is for rain this afternoon, it should come in as snow up top and as the freezing level drops the village should also be covered in another white blanket.  Snow will continue through tomorrow creating more amazing March sliding before another bluebird powder day on Saturday.

Sunny side up in Nozawa

March views in Nozawa

Beautiful day to be skiing Japan in March

Base up top: 365 cm

Temp Top; – 3 Degrees

Base at Uenotaira 295cm

Base at bottom; 180 cm

New Snow since close: 0 cm

Weather; Sunshine

Seems a bit strange to wake up without a foot of fresh in the Village. Nice sunny day outside and for a change no fresh snow overnight. Should be nice up top with still some fresh stashes around. The groomers should be fast but soften up as the day warms up.

Yesterday was an awesome day on the mountain with almost a foot of fresh snow and beautiful sunshine. As we thought no crowds to talk of and plenty of fresh tracks up for grabs. Some people were calling it the best day of the season. Pretty amazing for mid March.

On the forecast still looking like a big dump at least for the upper part of the mountain tomorrow. The warmer temps may bring some rain in the village. Then light snow and colder temps of Friday before some more sunshine into the weekend. Also the big downhill race on this Sunday so come and support Gab the reigning champion and manager of Villa Nozawa.

Have you ever imagined one of those perfect ski days? Dumping all night then blue bird morning. Well today in Nozawa all the elements have come together. 25cm of fresh overnight, the sun is out, winds have subsided, there is no crowds what so ever and the base has hit a season high of 380cm!

Yesterday was pretty wild with strong winds and blizzard like conditions. The powder was amazing for those that took on mother nature but in comparison today will be a much more enjoyable experience.

Looks like more of the same tomorrow before another big dump on Thursday! Anyway have a board meeting to attend will let you know how it goes. Hope everyone has a terrific day out there.

Another day another 30cm dump in Nozawa

by Mark on March 10, 2014

Adding up in NOzawa

Another nice dump overnight in Nozawa March is nit really Spring skiing with some of the best conditions of the season

Base up top: 365 cm        Temp Top; -10 Degrees

Base at Uenotaira 305cm

Base at bottom; 190 cm

New Snow since close: 30 cm

Weather; Wintery

As predicted we had heavy snowfall overnight and have woken up to another “Magic Foot” on the doorstep overnight. It started late in the evening and just got heavier at 5 am there were big flakes filling the sky outside our bedroom window!

It is very much winter here today with snowy blizzard like conditions. But there will be big rewards for the brave with awesome powder pockets all over the resort. Some of the season crew has headed to nearby Madarao for a powder fix!

Yesterday was amazing with terrific snow conditions and beautiful weather. Everyone was stoked and there were big smiles rolling down the mountain.

Looking like the snow should continue all day and them some sunshine over the next 2 days before the next system rolls in on Thursday. Go deep and stay safe.
