Ski Resort
Skiing and Boarding – Nozawa Onsen is one of the original and largest ski resorts in Japan.
The average snow depth is 4 meters, with lots of powder! We enjoy a lot of sunny days here at Nozawa Onsen.
The top of the mountain is 1650m above sea level, and the village is at 565m. This means you get 1085m of vertical to ski and board on!
The 1998 Winter Olympics were held here, which lead to a major upgrade. As a result of this, we’ve got lots of great lifts servicing this huge ski area, and two main Gondulas to take you to the top!
No wonder so many people are keen to ski Japan!
The lifts run from 8.30am, and we’ve got Night Skiing just near the lodge on weekends.
The longest run is 10km, and will take you at least 10 minutes to go from top to bottom. Nozawa Onsen has a wide variety of terrain with some really amazing slopes:
- Advanced (30%)
- Intermediate (30%)
- Beginner (40%)
Lift tickets start from 5200 yen per day for adults, and 2900 yen for kids. You’ll get discounts the longer you ski – we can arrange this for you.
Ski School and English Instruction are available, and so is Child Care.
Be prepared for the Nozawa Onsen weather – it is not the coldest Resort in the world to ski but at the top can get well below zero degrees, so pack the Thermal Underwear! A wide range of Rental Gear is available, with all the latest equipment, and large sizes. Snowfall can accumulate more than 30 centimeters in a single day. Great for a powder run or to make a snowman!
