Another blue sky day any one?

by Mark on January 31, 2010

It was a perfect full-moon last night with clear skies and no wind. This has made way for nice firm packed and freshly groomed runs this morning.
Given the day is going to be relatively warm, the best conditions will be this morning before the snow gets a little soft.
For those eagerly awaiting the next dump, you won’t have to wait too much longer. We have a good fall of snow expected between Tuesday night and Saturday morning. So start waxing your powder skis and boards.

The Day before yesterday being January 27th 2010 was really a special day up here in Nozawa. Finally managed to get out and take a few photos. Not a cloud in the sky and some pristine fresh snow. Everything looked picture perfect just wanted to share a few shots

A break between Powder Days

by Mark on January 28, 2010

I guess we can’t expect perfect conditions everyday. We’re experiencing 45km/h winds with rain down in town with snow up top today. The Gondolas are on standby with the Challenger and Utopia lifts expected to open shortly.

Outlook is for temps to fall and snow to increase so if have a choice may be a good day to take it easy and look forward to the new snow on the way

Anyone for a relaxing onsen?

Current snow depths:

270cm (top)
240cm (Uenotaira)
160cm (village).

Bluebird day at Nozawa Onsen!

by Mark on January 27, 2010

Kate, Jay and Matt

Kate, Jay and Matt

It’s a bluebird day here at Nozawa Onsen, with plenty of fresh snow on the ground after yesterday’s dump and a base of almost 300cm. That’s more than enough reasons to get up the mountain. Even those with Australia Day hangovers don’t have an excuse!

Another Snowy Day in Nozawa Onsen

by Mark on January 26, 2010

30cm of Fresh snow this morning on the slopes. After a few sunny days it was most welcome. Still snowing fairly heavily out side at the moment  but it is forecast to get lighter as the day goes on

Looking like tomorrow will be a Sunny day but the last for a while with consistent snow falls forecast for the week ahead. With the base already at great levels this will only help to give us continued great conditions

Does not get much better
